In 2015 a group of 4 BARF runners made a group attempt at completing the DRR with two of them successfully completing it. Other club members and friends helped may this possible.This was the success round for Dave Evans and Joanne Curran.
On 21st/22nd May BARF will again set off on another attempt, but this time it is being arranged for all NIMRA members. Continue reading
At the Mourne Mountain Marathon prize giving on Sunday 20th September, Denis’ late wife, Madeline Rankin presented Dave Evans and Joanne Curran with their certificates for completing the Denis Rankin Round.
On Sunday 23rd August BARF’s Dave Evans and Joanne Curran completed the Denis Rankin Round in a time of 23 hours 51 minutes.
We are very pleased to announce that the Denis Rankin Round is now a qualifying race for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB).
The challenge has been awarded 3 points – joining only the Wicklow Way Race and Kerry Way Ultra as the only other 3 point qualifiers on the island of Ireland.
At the Mourne Mountain Marathon prize giving on Sunday the 21st September 2014, the first set of certificates were presented by Madeline Rankin to three successful circuiteers. All three people were taking part in this year’s MMM so it seemed appropriate that this was a suitable occasion for the presentation.
Billy Reid and Greg Bryne were the first two people to successfully complete a circuit on the 15th June 2014, just a few weeks after the round was officially launched. There was a long and generous round of applause from the Mountain Marathon competitors in recognition of their groundbreaking efforts. Continue reading
